Lisa - People and Culture

I started my life at Totem just before Christmas of 1996 where I was hired as a full time cashier at our Edmonton Trail store in Calgary. After filling out my new employee paperwork I was asked if I would consider working at our Totem location in Midnapore in south Calgary, which I accepted. I felt I was a part of a great team at C3 and by July of 1997 I was promoted to Head Cashier and then to Office Manager in November of 1997.

It was originally my intention when I started to return to School in the fall of 1997. However with my quick promotions and a positive working environment I delayed my return to school and returned to school in the fall of 1998. I remained at Totem part time throughout my year of studies but I quickly realized that I missed Totem as I always enjoyed my time working so I returned to full time at C3 in April of 1999 as a Head Cashier and was then promoted back to the Store Office Manager in the fall of 2000.

I was transferred to our Bowness Yard in winter 2001 as the Office Manager, a position which offered the challenges of a far busier store, plus the central delivery for all of Calgary.  I settled in and enjoyed my position at the C2 yard until October 2002 when I was promoted to Accounts Payable at our Totem Support Center and then to a Purchasing Assistant in 2004.  To date, I have 12 working years with Totem, now working in our People and Culture Department at the Support Center since June of 2006 and really enjoying what I do.
